Why a Watts Link?
Panhard Bars by design move in an arc as the suspension moves in both compression and rebound.
Watts Linkages do not allow the axle to move in an arc and give the axle true vertical movement throughout the entire range of travel.
Further, the roll center height remains set throughout the range of motion. A Panhard Bar causes the the roll-center height to change depending on the direction of travel. It will raise turning right, and lower when turning left on GM F-bodies.
The details:
-Uses 4 High Quality Aurora or FK Teflon line 3/4" thread 22,000 pound rated rod-ends
-Billet Aluminum Arms made of 1.125". These are not hollow parts, but solid aluminum. The short length gives more even more strength because there is less metal to flex. I'm not a fan of Aluminum PHB's because the are hollow, and very long which allows more flex than we like. This setup is completely different
-Greater clearance for bigger and/or dual exhaust pipes since the PHB brace is no longer needed or used. The body side mount is actually more rigid than it is with a Panhard Bar and PHB brace, especially when turning left.
-Adjustable roll-center heights. Quickly, easily, no welding required, and through range that runs from stock height to approximately 3.5" lower in .5" increments.
-True Bolt in design. No welding, cutting, and uses factory mounting points
-Made of .120" wall, 1" square tubing. Frame mounting plates are .101 to .125 inch thick Grade 50 steel (50,000 PSI yield strength) and designed to firmly hold the watts frames to the unibody while providing increased rigidity to the unibody
I'm not a fan of Aluminum PHB's because the are hollow and very long. This allows more flex than I feel it right. This setup is completely different using 2 shorter arms that are solid aluminum stock, not tubular for greater flex resistance
-Adjustable roll-center heights. Quickly, easily, no welding required, and through range that runs from stock height to approximately 3.5" lower in .5" increments
-Axle clamps that have a minimum three inch wide clamping surface for more than 28 square inches of clamping surface on each axle clamp. Thats over 56 square inches of clamping surface on F-bodies
-Axle clamp tubes are gusseted at 12 and 3 O'clock for rigidity and are supplied with .75" x 3.0" x 16 thread Grade 8 bolts
-CNC machined, billet aluminum propellers are 1.25 inches wide and contain two sealed bearings for a 1.0 inch wide surface area on the center .75 diameter pivot bolt
